Mistakes I Made When Growing My Business

Hey there, future business owners and entrepreneurs! Today, I want to share some important lessons I learned while growing my own brick and mortar business.

You see, building a business can be an exciting adventure, but it's also filled with twists and turns. I made some mistakes along the way, and I'm here to tell you about them, so you don't make the same ones.

1. Neglecting Instagram and Facebook

When I first started my business, I didn't pay much attention to Instagram and Facebook. I thought they were just for posting pictures of your lunch or cute puppy videos. Oh boy, was I wrong! These platforms can be powerful tools for building your brand.

I should have been posting videos of people using the amazing machines and capturing the smiles on their faces as they walked in. Pictures of happy clients on the technology could have shown the world what my business does to help others feel better.

2. Missing Out on Amazing Stories

Every day, incredible things were happening in my business. My clients were feeling better, and some even had miraculous results! But here's where I messed up: I didn't write these stories down, and I forgot to ask for testimonials.

Sharing these stories could have inspired others to try the technology and experience the benefits for themselves. FREE marketing!! Don't make the same mistake; document those success stories and don’t be to busy to ask for testimonials from your happy customers.

3. Forgetting Before and After Photos

Imagine this: We just finished renovating our office, and it looked absolutely fantastic. But I forgot to take pictures before we started the renovation, and I missed out on some impressive before-and-after photos.

People love seeing transformations, whether it's a room makeover or a personal journey. So, remember to snap those pics before you make any big changes. Your customers will appreciate it, and it can be great for marketing.

4. Not Embracing Technology

In the beginning, I didn't realize how technology could make my life easier and improve my business. I was still using an old-fashioned paper calendar to schedule appointments. Can you believe it?

Now, I know better. There are amazing scheduling software options out there that not only reminds you about appointments but also send reminders to your clients.  Embrace technology.

5. Taking Credit Card Payments

Originally, I had check and cash as my payment options because I didn’t want to deal with credit card sales.  Did not want to lose the 3% and didn’t understand that is the price of business.

Not accepting credit cards made things inconvenient for both my clients and I found out later. Nowadays, there are so many ways to process credit card sales, like Square and other user-friendly tools.

6. Overthinking Trademarks and Logos

I used to spend way too much time worrying about trademark designs and logos. While having a unique brand identity is important, I realized that I was overcomplicating things. Your business name and logo are important, but they don't have to be overly complex.

Simplicity can sometimes be the key to success. Focus more on delivering excellent service and value to your clients rather than stressing over elaborate trademarks and logos.

Building a business can be an incredible journey filled with learning experiences. I hope my mistakes and the lessons I've shared here can help you avoid some common pitfalls as you embark on your entrepreneurial adventure.

Making mistakes is learning; that's how we grow and become better at what we do.  It is all part of the process.

Thinking about starting a business that not only benefits your health but others? Don’t hesitate to message or call me. I am an open book.
