Can PEMF relieve pain?

One of the most common questions about PEMF is whether or not it helps to relieve pain?  If pain is persistent and severe people will scour the internet to find a method to eliminate or at least reduce it.  Because of this, people are open to finding a product that can help to reduce their pain. For this reason, a safe, non-invasive modality like Pulse Centers PEMF that helps to reduce pain will have broad appeal to a wide audience.

In the medical world, helping to reduce pain is done with a range of different medications.  These pain reduction medications can include anti-inflammatories, anti-depressants, and anti-convulsants.  These are not typically full solutions to the underlying problem but merely help the individual to better cope with the pain.

However, a more optimal way to address an issue is to determine the cause of the pain (symptom) and provide the necessary support.  As Dr. Jerry Tennant has stated, “with enough voltage (in the cells) and raw materials, the body can heal almost anything.” PEMF, or a pulsing electromagnetic field, is a gentle energy source that will penetrate all the way through the body.

The Area of Pain (Issue)

To more effectively target the area of discomfort it helps to learn the causes that actually lead to its manifestation.  Typical causes can include infection, inflammation, injury, etc. This can help not only with knowing how much power you may want to put into an area but also what all should be added to a wellness program.  For example, if the area of pain is due to a broken bone, you will only want to use low-intensity settings with our XL Pro system at 1.0 – 2.0 pulses per second (PPS) with the Magnetic Field Strength (MFS) set to 25% or less.  With the X, X1, and MG-33 units, the MFS will only be turned on to where the User barely feels it or is even slightly below that. Plus, you might include specific nutrition and dietary supplements to support their specific issues.

However, if there is no injury, acute issue, or nothing severe you will typically want to drive as much power (Magnetic Field Strength) as possible into the area of issue that the User can reasonably tolerate.  This will vary widely from person to person, as different people are in different stages of health. Some people have more severe issues and will only be able to handle low-intensity pulsing, while others have minor issues and might be able to handle a lot more power.  Always customize the strength to the user’s highest level of tolerance without it being painful.

Is PEMF a Form of Exercise?

High-intensity PEMF causes movement in the cells with its rapidly rising pulse, which is why it is sometimes referred to as cellular or PEMF exercise.  In fact, some individuals comment that they feel like they have exercised the area of the body that was the focus of the PEMF session. The experience that a high-intensity PEMF system can provide is one that Users typically enjoy and that they feel invigorated and energized from during and afterward.  This can be similar to what some might feel after completing an aerobic activity.

How Does PEMF Help to Reduce Pain?

PEMF can be used to stimulate and support the areas of the body that produce the body’s pain-reducing hormones.  These areas include the brain stem, pituitary, and the gastrointestinal tract and are responsible for the production of endorphins, serotonin, and other natural painkillers.  Supporting these areas with PEMF provides energy that can be used to help improve their functionality so that they can produce optimal amounts of pain-relieving substances. This is likely one of the reasons that so many people notice a reduction in pain after a pulsing session.

PEMF researcher, Magda Havas, has found microcirculation is also enhanced during a PEMF session and may help with pain reduction.  By enhancing circulation the body experiences a greater flow of fluids and nutrients moving into the cell and waste being flushed out.  As a result of this increased function, swelling may also be reduced which can help to diminish pain, as well.

Yet another way that PEMF can help to reduce pain was discussed by Dr. William Pawluk, MD, “Damaged nerve networks stuck in a constant state of inflammation send pain messages to your brain, which sends help that can actually perpetuate the pain.  PEMF therapy calms those nerves, finally allowing them to recover.” The energized, relaxed state that is noticed after a PEMF session puts the individual in a more optimal state for healing to occur.

There are several ways that PEMF can help to reduce pain or discomfort.  With all of the people that are living with pain and inflammation, a non-invasive method like PEMF can be a transformational technology to many people.
